In Honor Of Lou Reed Fine Art Print
Thanks again to @brad.newman for continuing my musical awakening back in the day. This time it was a proper introduction to Lou Reed @loureedofficial via the albums Loaded, The Bells, Street Hassle, The Blue Mask, Sally Can’t Dance and of course, you can’t truly know Lou’s work without immersing yourself into The Velvet Underground @thevelvetundergroundofficial and also the music of Nico aka Christa Päffgen.
Loved everything I heard and since then Lou has always been core to our musical experience, library and lexicon. Got to see Lou in PDX in 1989, which was a gorgeous show, but of course wish I could have seen them more. Sadly Lou passed away in 2013, RIP to this incredible icon, artist and musician. Anthony DeCurtis wrote an excellent biography about Lou that is a brilliant tribute that captures the depth and complexity of Lou’s life. Highly recommend if you want to dip into learning more about the life of Lou Reed.
When I thought about Lou Reed a very specific color palette came to mind. One of my favorite album artwork is for The Blue Mask. It captures the intensity of the person of Lou Reed, their intense youthful energy and the nuances of the years spanning their career and how forward thinking they were for when they were born. So grateful for Lou showing us how to be strong and how to give zero F*CKS when we don’t agree what is happening in our world. Each line of textural color represents how Lou was never the same, never boring, always seeking new ways to be and express themselves. Their vibrant uniqueness had a shine and a gleam that drew us all to want to listen more, and know more. #loureed #loureedalife #anthonydecurtis #Loaded #Thebells #Streethassel #thebluemask #sallycantdance #thevelvetunderground #nico #abstractart #fineartprints #expressyourself #walkfonthewildside #listenmore #knowmore #bestrong
