One Way Communication Unframed Canvas Wall Art 30x30"
Tomorrow is the five year anniversary of the day my mother left this planet. It made me think a lot about our troubled relationship. Through the help of mental health professionals I was able to learn that my mom was a narcissist. One of the main ways that manifested itself was that communication only went one way. My mother wanted to tell you all the things, but was not interested in anything that you might want to say, that simply didn't matter. Maybe this sounds familiar to you, or maybe not?
Years ago I bought this card of artwork by John William Waterhouse called Echo and Narcissus. Talkative Echo falls in love with Narcissus who is in love with their own reflection, and poor Echo is cursed to only be able to repeat the last words spoken by another, so is unable to have their feelings heard. Echo doesn't handle this well and retreats with grief, turns into a rock and the story tells us that their voice remains in caves and mountain valleys. This makes so much sense to me as someone who felt I was sometimes yelling into a vast empty canyon and would never be heard or understood. Without my mother I finally felt free to truly be and express who I am. It has been a fun and fantastic adventure! I have zero f*cks to give! Wheeee! Here is a picture of myself with my mother. Our relationship was truly as awkward as this picture looks.
Inspired by this story and how much it mirrors my life I created this artwork to capture when communication only goes one way and how imperfect, erratic and wobbly it is, but there is always the glow and glimmer beneath the surface that one day, it can crack open, burst through and transform us. May this bring anyone out there with a similar story some hope and encouragement no matter what you face, to stay out of the "cave" and feel free and brave to live the full gorgeous expression of yourself. The universe wants and needs you to do it! Please do it best you can! Cheers and hugs kind people! #fineartprints #abstractart #johnwilliamwaterhouse #echoandnarcissus #fullexpression #onewaycommunication #glimmer #glow #echo #hello?
Each custom stretched canvas begins with a 12-colour Giclée print, produced from a choice of substrates. We then make a custom wooden frame from European knotless pine - in any size needed up to a maximum of 3 metres - and stretch the rolled canvas print over it.
We use finger jointed canvas frames to create corner tension which helps to resist warping. For larger sizes, we add wooden ‘wedges’ to each corner; ensuring the canvas surface remains taut and allowing for easy re-stretching in future years.
All canvas prints are wrapped in a protective sleeve with individual plastic or cardboard guards added to each corner. Additional cardboard is secured over the print surface to minimize the risk of breakages or transit damage. Each print is then shipped in a heavy duty cardboard box.
