Change happens to us every day. Some of the change we control, but a lot of it we don’t. That can be scary. It has been said that the first reaction to change is always resistance. I think that is because our self protection kicks in and we want to make sure we can handle whatever is happening. The more we experience change the more it stretches us out of what we are used to and into a different place. This piece is meant to remind us that change can be something that we embrace because it helps us grow, evolve and in many cases be better. Each custom stretched canvas begins with a 12-colour Giclée print, produced from a choice of substrates. We then make a custom wooden frame from European knotless pine - in any size needed up to a maximum of 3 metres - and stretch the rolled canvas print over it.
We use finger jointed canvas frames to create corner tension which helps to resist warping. For larger sizes, we add wooden ‘wedges’ to each corner; ensuring the canvas surface remains taut and allowing for easy re-stretching in future years.
All canvas prints are wrapped in a protective sleeve with individual plastic or cardboard guards added to each corner. Additional cardboard is secured over the print surface to minimize the risk of breakages or transit damage. Each print is then shipped in a heavy duty cardboard box.
