Patti Smith Visionary Fine Art Print

from $100.00

Another incredible musician, poet and artist that @brad.newman shared with me back in the day was Patti Smith @thisispattismith. By the way, I’m so lucky to have @brad.newman in my life to provide such stellar introductions to so many amazing things that have and continue to bring us such rich joy and delight in music and creating.

Patti Smith was on the scene in NYC in the seventies and her incredible album Horses was such a gift to the world. Amazingly, Patti is not just a talented and multi-faceted musician, but they are a beautiful poet and one of my favorite books they wrote was Just Kids, a gorgeous and incredible journey about her relationship and partnership with the also complex and gorgeous photographer artist Robert Mapplethorpe. It is such a great great book, if you haven’t read it, I highly encourage you to dig in. You will love it!!! Here also is a picture of a collection of their poems from 1970-1979.

Recently Leather Saints and Angels @leathersaints posted a fantastic video of Patti performing for the first time on US television on Saturday Night Live on April 17, 1976. GOOD GOVERNOR, this video knocked me on my sweet *ss!!! I may have seen it before, but it is worth a revisit absolutely.

I wanted to create art to capture Patti’s brilliance as when they brilliantly exploded onto the scene, and then changed the scene to never be the same again, which is a grand thing!!! Art that is edgy and raw and vibrates with energy. Please know that Patti is still a vibrant and constant presence in our world and is still creating and connecting people to their music and their magic. Isn’t that so cool? Gives me hope for the future! Thanks Patti, we will be grateful to you always!!!! #pattismith #horses #thisispattismith #robertmapplethorpe #justkids #earlywork #visionary #fineartprints #abstractart
