Not My Circus Not My Monkeys Fine Art Print
Hello kind people! I have been working through some family trauma and drama this week. Leading up the holidays when times are the most stressful time for people, is a perfect time for this to be happening, right? WTF?!?
Here is some magical wisdom that I was reminded of this week. Remember the phrase Not My Circus, Not My Monkeys? It is meant to mean that you are rejecting responsibility for something that was caused by someone else’s actions and chaos and you are going to decline involvement in that chaos
What? That is something that you can do? YES, YES YOU CAN! This is actually a way of creating healthy boundaries. Here are some phrases that you can use when you find yourself in a situation where you might be tempted to get involved to your own detriment.
Try these: I can’t do that right now. I have a right to my own feelings. No. No thanks. I can’t see myself doing that right now. I won’t be treated like this. These are just a few examples that you can use to calmly and clearly let people know where you stand and where you draw your lines to create your healthy boundaries.
Let me tell you people, it is sheer magic to allow yourself to create and prioritize that space for yourself and your feelings and wellbeing. We all need to do this more, in my opinion, rather that always doing things you felt you had to do and had no choice because of obligation or duty. Believe me, you have a choice!
This piece of art is meant to remind us of those damn monkeys, the ones we cannot control and we really should have nothing to do with! You have the right to walk right by that tent flap and KEEP ON GOING! Leave that circus and those monkeys behind dear people. You will be happier and healthier. I promise. #notmycircus #notmymonkeys #fineartprints #abstractart #keepongoing #walkrightby #dontgointhetent #wellbeing #healthyboundaries #giveyourselfspace #yesyoucan #walkonby
