Potlucks Are Not My Favorite Fine Art Print
Good food is very important to me. I have learned it doesn't have to be expensive to be great and delicious, and if I only have a certain amount of food within each day, I really prefer it to be of a nice quality if possible and very tasty! Does that make me a bit of a food snob? Maybe a little bit?
It has come to my attention that potlucks are very much a wild card in the food game. I'm talking here primarily about a church type potluck that seems to be core to every church community. I get it, everybody brings something, the cost is low and you can kind of feed everyone?
Unfortunately it has come to my attention that potlucks are not my favorite thing. They can be a mixed bag of dishes that people spent a lot of time on, usually gone by the time I am going through with my plate, the food is usually lukewarm and it is hard to tell what transpired to bring all that food there. There could be what I call suspect chicken, eggs of uncertain preparation, mystery beans, or wack-a-doodle jello creations, random food from to-go places as it is sometimes an extra job for people to bring food to these potlucks on top of their very busy job they already have been doing all day. It is usually a sad food situation. I would like to shout out a fantastic way to potluck and that is Questlove's @questlove cookbook Mixed Tape Potluck. Hosted one of these once and it was incredible. Each person was given a song to pair their food with. It turned out amazing, and was not sad at all! We enjoyed the food AND the music! YAY!!! Highly recommend!
Thinking about the challenge of the modern day potluck, I decided to create some art that captures for me the unenthusiastic feelings I have for these events and how everything kind of melts into everything else, a melange of colors from every palette possible all together in one place! Maybe you can relate to this feeling that this art portrays? #potlucksarenotmyfavorites #mixedbag #melange #mysterybeans #suspectchicken #fineartprints #abstractart #whykale #randomfood #sadfoodsituation
