Uh Oh Forest Fire Eco Friendly Maple Wood Prints

$500.00

Sharing a memory of when my dad wore a Smokey Bear costume for the annual US Forest Service family picnic. Dad was a 30 year employee there and apparently they would draw straws to see who had to dress up in the costume? These pictures are from the super hot summer in 1972 in the Sandia mountains in New Mexico. Dad was also a smokejumper out of Missoula Montana in college days. I was so proud of my dad always. He was a genuinely sweet and kind person.

I have since learned that the Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires with the forest fire suppression campaign was probably problematic as not all fires are bad, and forests can actually benefit from them. This isn’t my deep expertise so will leave it at that to google, but that my history with my dad inspired me to create this piece called Uh Oh Forest Fire.

Here in the Pacific Northwest we do dread fires when they happen as it can make our climate looks like an apocalyptic scene from Blade Runner and that is never fun as you can’t go outside and the sky is hidden from smoke. In this art you can see that the fire is getting going but please rest assured it will be handled in the best way possible, you don’t need to worry, its just abstract digital art! What we can all do is support our lovely national forests and go and get out in them and enjoy their beauty and bask between the trees whenever possible. Trees are super cool!! Stay safe and be cool my babies! #smokeybear #nationalforests #usforestservice #wherethereissmoke #becool #newmexico #sandiamountains #smokejumpers

Each of our maple wood custom panels is printed directly onto 1/2" thick maple surfaced wood, giving a warm and natural looking print that’s also eco-friendly. The stunning wood grain shows through the light or non printed areas of the image, producing a natural warm tone and retro vintage feel.

All panels are wrapped in a protective sleeve with individual plastic or cardboard guards added to each corner. Additional cardboard is secured over the print surface to minimise the risk of breakages or transit damage. Each panel is then shipped in a heavy duty cardboard box.
